Nine people are homeless after their two bedroom house in a squatter settlement in Davuilevu Housing in Nakasi was destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Payal Frances Deo says the house that belonged to her mother-in-law housed her in-laws and her 4 children.
She says they do not know where they will go to from here, however they will stay at a neighbors house tonight.
The fire started at around 3pm.
No one was in the house when the fire started.
Due to the difficult location of the house at the squatter settlement, firefighters took an alternative route through Nakorovou in Wainibuku and were then able to control the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
