The National Fire Authority has yet to ascertain the cause of the fire that destroyed a house in a squatter settlement in Davuilevu Housing, Nakasi that has left a family of nine homeless yesterday.
Chief Fire Officer Qionelau Moceitai, has confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
The fire started at around 3pm at an informal settlement in Davuilevu Housing.
National Fire Authority confirmed that fire fighters were unable to reach the home through Davuilevu Housing and had to take an alternative route through Nakorovou, Wainibuku.
The house belonged to53 year old Halima Bibi and this also housed her husband, two sons, daughter-in- law and four grandchildren.
