The International Diabetes Federation estimates that healthcare expenditure for diabetes last year in Fiji was 24.4 million US dollars. 

According to the International Diabetes Federation country report on Fiji, healthcare expenditure for a person living with diabetes last year was estimated to be $298 US dollars.

The report also pointed out that the proportion of deaths due to diabetes in people under 60 years last year was 53 percent.

It also said that the number of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes in Fiji was 31.    

This is those that are 19 years and below.

The International Diabetes Federation says the prevalence of diabetes in Fijian adults was 15 percent last year.

It also estimates that the proportion of undiagnosed cases last year was 53 percent.

Fiji uses over $400 million annually on Non Communicable Diseases related treatments.

This includes money which is used to cater for the average amount of three amputations which is conducted in a day.
