Highlanders coach, Aaron Mauger is expected to return to work in time for his team's New Zealand derby against the Hurricanes on Friday night.
Mauger's mother, Christine Wilson, died in Christchurch during the Highlanders' 18‑15 win against the Reds last weekend. Her funeral will be held on tomorrow.
The Highlanders will be wearing black armbands against the Hurricanes in Dunedin, where Mauger is expected to take his seat in the coaching box.
Meanwhile Fiji born winger Waisake Naholo is expected to start with Ben Smith to co-captain the side that also includes Tevita Li, Lima Sopoaga, Aaron Smith, Luke Whitelock, Liam Squire and Ash Dixon.
The Highlanders will take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm Friday.
