Fiji's participation in the United Nations Peacekeeping has now become part of Fiji's identity, a key part of its foreign policy.

This was highlighted by the Commissioner of Police, Sitiveni Qiliho in his address at the 2nd United Nations Chief of Police Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Qiliho says that while Fiji has contributed a lot to the United Nations Police Peacekeeping, Fiji Police has also engaged in regional partnership with Pacific island countries, to deter, minimize and prevent the impact of transnational crime on Fiji.

The Commissioner of Police will be holding bilateral discussions with counterparts for the Pacific Region and Internationally and he will be discussing, technical assistance and capacity building.

He adds that Fiji stands ready to provide further support to UN Policing.

Representatives from 123 countries participated at the Summit.
