A pilot boat with Korean surveyors and Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji officers on board, had visited the burnt Tuvaluan fishing vessel, Tuipuga for assessment last week.
This was confirmed by the MSAF Acting CEO, Captain Philip Hill who says that the surveyors will be conducting their own investigations while MSAF will be having their own.
Captain Hill says since the vessel was a fibre glass boat, it burnt to the waterline and there is not much that can be determined from the remains.
The ship caught fire at around 6 to 6.30pm on the 15th of this month at the Mua i Walu 1 side at the Suva wharf.
Captain Hill says that the National Fire Authority could not contain the fire and they had to tug the vessel away from the wharf.
