Traffic offenders will now be notified through text messages.

This was made possible after the signing of a Media Partnership Agreement between the Land Transport Authority and Vodafone Fiji.

This has enabled LTA to notify offenders before Traffic Infringement Notices reach them via mail.

LTA Board Chairman, Vijay Maharaj says this will improve LTA’s customer efficiency with the timely delivery of SMS notices relating to traffic infringement through mobile phones.

He has also revealed that 38,939 Traffic Infringement notices were issued last year.

The Acting CEO of Vodafone Fiji, Ronald Prasad while speaking at the signing event said the platform is simple to use and very effective in terms to reaching the target audience.

He says Vodafone has many businesses that use the facility for various purposes, such as sending reminders, notices, marketing and information on services and products.

Prasad says SMS still has a high opening rate, meaning that when someone receives an SMS, the chances of that person opening the SMS and reading the content is still very high.

LTA has also urged all its customers to come forth and update their contact details at their nearest LTA outlets.
