An early morning accident in Nakasi this morning has claimed the life of a man in his 30's and injured a 26-year-old woman.
The accident occurred at around 7am at the junction of Vavalagi Road when a 30-year-old man who is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol hit the victim who was walking with a 26-year-old co‑worker.
The 26-year-old woman is being treated at the Nausori Health Centre while the suspect is in custody at the Nausori Police Station.
The road death toll currently stands at 46 compared to 42 for the same period last year.
