Medical Services Pacific has received FJD$40,000 worth of assistance from Australia for the worthy cause of delivering humanitarian aid.

Executive Director Medical Services Pacific Jennifer Poole says with the assistance provided, they have been able to put together a range of necessary kits which can be taken to the fields by health teams during natural disasters.

She says the kits include the safe birthing kit, the new mothers kit, hygiene and wash kits.

Poole says these kits are aimed to save the lives of both mothers and newborns by preventing the spread of infection especially in times of natural disasters.

Medical Services Pacific has been responding to disasters and supporting communities with health and social services for the past 8 years.

Australian Government’s Counsellor for Development Cooperation for Fiji Christina Munzer says Fiji is vulnerable to frequent and strong tropical cyclones but through the dedication of humanitarian aid organizations such as Medical Services Pacific, communities in Fiji will be better prepared and supported.
