Over 5 days of limited hours of sleep, being away from family members has bore fruits for Miss Labasa Division Hospital 23-year-old Naima Shazmeen who was crowned as the 2018 Vodafone Miss Friendly North last night.

Shazmeen who is an Intern Pharmacist says she was not expecting the crown at all as the competition was very tough this time around.

The 23-year-old says her first project as the Queen will be conducting landscaping works and making a proper garden for the Golden Age Home in Labasa.

Shazmeen says this is not the end because she now has to begin preparations for the Miss Fiji Pageant where she will be representing the friendly north.

The 2018 Miss Fiji Pageant will be held in October with the venue and dates yet to be confirmed.

Onto other awards, Miss FSC Ateca Ledua received runner up the Miss Charity award Miss Lions Club of Labasa Salaseini Grace Kulinidilo took the Miss Photogenic award, Miss Labasa Town Council Pola Salusalu Litty received the Miss Personality award, Best Research Award went to Miss Northern Civil Service, Meiema Maeli while Miss Apco Coatings Troika Maduekwe received the Best Sarong Award.

The Friendly North Festival Committee Chairperson, Vishwa Deo has confirmed that a total of $260,000 was collected through sponsorship and charity.

He has confirmed this will be used to support the health sector where the committee will be providing a multi-functional scanner machine to the Labasa Hospital.

Deo says the bigger project is to a multi-purpose hall that they will be building.
