The Principal of a Suva-based school says that they will now look into considerable measures that will be taken against four students who were caught roaming around Suva City during school hours yesterday.
They were then taken back to school to sit their exams.
Some people have seen students of this Suva‑based school smoking cigarettes in Suva City during and after school hours.
When questioned with regards to the issue of students caught smoking, the Principal says that they have been picking their students from the City almost on a daily basis and while some students have been caught smoking, others were just roaming around the City during school hours.
We have also witnessed students from a number of Suva‑based schools smoking near the Suva bus stand during school hours last Friday.
The Principal also says that some of the students’ behavior have been a challenge however they are trying their best to support them as almost 45-50 percent of them have single parents.
The Principal of this Suva based Secondary School says that they have also been providing meals for these students.
He adds that they will resort to moving these students to other schools depending on the seriousness of their cases.
The School Principal says that most of these students who were caught smoking and roaming around in the City were removed from other schools.
We are trying to speak to Police and the Ministry of Education.
