A trial date has been set for Australian couple, Yvette Dianne Nikolic and John Geoffrey Nikolic by High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

It will take place between the 28th of January to the 5th of February next year.

The two who are facing charges after drugs, arms and ammunition were found on a yacht at Port Denarau Marina in Nadi on the 22nd of June this year had pleaded not guilty to all their charges.

The couple are jointly charged with one count of possession of illicit drugs and one count of failure to declare arms and ammunition to a customs officer while John Nikolic is additionally charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs.

It is alleged that John Nikolic imported 12.9 kilograms of cocaine and the couple had in their possession 34.4 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine tablets with an estimated value of between $20‑$30 million.

It is also alleged that they failed to declare that they had in their possession one pistol with 62 rounds of ammunition and one revolver with 41 rounds of ammunition.

Both accused persons have been further remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned to the 25th of January.

Justice Goundar has also decided that the trial will take place in the Suva High Court as there are over 300 cases that are pending in Lautoka.
