All Blacks captain Kieran Read is optimistic about what next year might hold especially as New Zealand’s World Cup title defence is on the horizon.
Read says that he is in really good shape following back surgery and is feeling confident about his fitness heading into 2019.
Read missed the first half of the 2018 season, after undergoing treatment late last year and has struggled to rediscover his best form since making his comeback.
He says that it has been 12 months since the surgery and it probably was not until the end of the year where he started feeling somewhat decent physically.
The 33-year-old says that it has been a fairly fast recovery and he has worked pretty hard at it and felt that he is in good shape now.
The All Blacks are pooled with South Africa, Italy, Namibia and Canada for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
