We love talking about gender issues of being a minority, but what are we doing about it.
This was a question posed by the Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar to members of the Fiji Institute of Accountants Women in Leadership inaugural event.
Kumar says gender issues such as pay parity, discrimination and low number of women in boards and committees including parliament, are still debates that attract everyone’s attention.
The Minister says women must work harder to achieve their goals.
Kumar says men are good role models as she herself was inspired by a man to get into politics.
Kumar also commended the Fiji Institute of Accountants for their initiative in trying to enable women to get into leadership roles.
