Works to clean and de‑silt the Wainibuku Creek in Nakasi are currently ongoing and should be completed by next week.
This was confirmed by Ministry of Waterways Director Operations Mahendra Kumar who says works started two weeks ago after preliminary investigations by their officers.
These works are being carried out as a result of ankle deep water in the Shop N Save Supermarket during a heavy downpour earlier this year. The Supermarket is located in Rups Complex Nakasi which is situated next to the Wainibuku Creek.
Kumar says he will be able reveal the cost of the whole operation upon completion of the works.
