Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says that sisterhood is not evident when a woman is in trouble and this could be a reason why women are not taking up leadership roles.
Kumar highlighted this while speaking to the participants of the Fiji Institute of Accountants Women in Leadership Inaugural Event.
She says this was obvious when none of the women NGOs spoke out in defence of a woman parliamentarian who is currently going through a rough patch.
The Minister says women’s groups should stand up for one another for the right reasons.
Kumar says for women to progress in life they should start with themselves first and to stop accusing the men.
