All the hassle of trying to register a new born child will soon be a thing of the past for parents as the Prime Minister will be launching a new birth registration app next week.

This was confirmed by the Attorney General and the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while he was updating Parliament on the introduction of Digital Fiji which is the digital government transformation program.

Sayed-Khaiyum says a mother can register her child from the comfort of her bed after giving birth.

He says after that, they will launch e-birth certificates and create a profile on the digital Fiji app.

Sayed-Khaiyum says in August this year, Fijians will be able to pay for government services online instead of queuing in government offices.

He says on 14th June 2018 the Prime Minister launched the Government Directory and My feedback apps.

He says the My feedback portal allows Fijians to communicate feedbacks directly to gov and track its status while they await response.

The Attorney General says they have received over the 300 feedback reports and of that, 70 have been resolved in a week and with the majority of those remaining resolved within the next 14 days.

He says it is tracked and traceable making government ministries and agencies more accountable and thereby improve service delivery.

He says this will soon be done in municipal councils.

Sayed-Khaiyum says ever since the launch of the Government Directory app they have received 1,000 unique uses in a month.
