The Crusaders and the Chiefs rugby teams are expected to arrive in the country today ahead of their Super Rugby Game at the ANZ Stadium this Saturday.

That game is an important one for both teams especially the Chiefs who need the win to improve their chances of getting a place in the playoffs.

With three rounds remaining in the regular season, teams from the South Africa conference occupy four of the top‑eight places on the overall championship table.

Those teams are the Jaguares, Sharks, Bulls and Lions.

A fifth African team, the Stormers are just outside the top eight on point difference.

New Zealand has only two teams in the playoffs zone, the first‑place Crusaders and fourth‑place Hurricanes.

Australia has two more in the third‑placed ACT Brumbies and fifth‑placed Melbourne Rebels.

Teams currently outside the top eight still have a chance of making the playoffs, but those chances diminish as teams become dependent on other results to reach the quarterfinals.

The Crusaders take on the Chiefs at 7.35pm Saturday.
