A man has been sentenced to 4 years, 8 months and 22 days imprisonment for sexually assaulting his daughter in 2015 in Nasinu.
At the time of the incident the man was 46 years old while the victim was 11 years.
While sentencing the man, Judge, Justice Vinsent Perera told the man that he made his daughter experience an awful event that may most probably haunt her for the rest of her life.
Justice Perera told the man that sexually assaulting his own daughter portrays one of the worst forms of breach of trust a father could commit against his child.
Justice Perera says being the victim’s father, the man was supposed to be her most trusted guardian and protector from all evil but instead he became her predator.
A non-parole period of 2 years, 8 months and 22 days has been set.
