The trial of the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nadi Town Council will continue in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.

Nemia Taginasedrau has been charged with one count each of abuse of office and causing a loss.

It is alleged that between the 1st of January 2013 and the 3rd of May 2013 whilst being employed as the CEO of the Nadi Town Council, in the abuse of the authority of his office, did an arbitrary act for the purpose of gain, namely, awarding the construction of culverts to Arrow Concrete Limited in violation of the tender procedure of the Nadi Town Council, which was prejudicial to the rights of the Nadi Town Council.

It is also alleged that between the 1st of January 2013 and the 3rd of May 2013 whilst being employed at the Nadi Town Council dishonestly caused a loss to the Nadi Town Council by facilitating and endorsing the payment amounting to $36,000 to be made to Arrow Concrete Limited knowing that the loss will occur or a substantial risk of the loss will occur to the Nadi Town Council.
