Don’t complain about the roads during the daylight but at night you are the ones that drive the trucks that are overladen with weight.
That is the message to people by Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the opening of the Land Transport Authority office at Nadi Back Road.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the Police and LTA are doing their best, and people need to follow the road rules.
The Minister for Economy says in recent years, there has been a huge growth of vehicles on the roads in the country following government’s duty reductions.
Sayed-Khaiyum says this results in pressure on the roads and policing as well. He also reveals that the government will soon start the four lane road project from Nadi to Lautoka due to increased traffic jams.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the government has been working with different agencies to provide the right type of budget and resource requirements to be able to modernise our economy.
While speaking on the LTA office in Nadi, Sayed-Khaiyum says people don’t have to go to different parts of the town to get different sources of services from the same agency. He says the new office will have all services including licence requirements, approvals and vehicle inspections done at one place.
The facility will open on Saturdays too and Sayed-Khaiyum says he hopes this is replicated to other agencies as well.
