Former Fiji 7's and Fiji Bati player, Jarryd Hayne has reached a settlement with his alleged victim in his United States rape case.
After months of negotiations between the parties, the civil suit has been brought to a conclusion.
The young American woman, identified only as JV, had accused Hayne of sexually assaulting her in San Jose in 2015 during his NFL stint with the San Francisco 49ers.
Authorities did not have sufficient evidence to lay criminal charges over the alleged incident, prompting JV to file a civil suit in December 2017, claiming damages resulting from sexual battery.
According to court papers filed in the Santa Clara County Court, JV was at a bar with friends in San Jose, California, after attending a football game between the 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals in the afternoon, where she met with Hayne and his friends.
She alleged the pair then travelled in an Uber back to Haynes’ apartment where he raped her.
The papers state the woman had no recollection of how she entered Hayne's home, and only remembered "seeing a silhouette of a man with Hayne's build coming towards her.
