The three assessors in the rape trial of a  former proposed candidate of the National Federation Party have returned with mixed opinions after High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe summed up the case this morning.

Two of the assessors found the man guilty of all five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

The third assessor found the man not guilty of all counts.

Justice Rajasinghe will deliver his judgement next Monday.

The 66‑year‑old man is alleged to have raped and sexually assaulted his 54‑year‑old sister in law in Nasinu in June last year.
