Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says police officers have been told to bring in children and their parents for questioning if they find children playing in flooded rivers, streams or crossings.

Tudravu says they want parents and children to understand that they are working for the safety of the general public and parents need to take responsibility for their children's lives.

He says if parents cannot do that then they should not expect police officers to come and rescue them at the height of the cyclone.

He adds that people should adhere to all the warnings and advisories given by relevant authorities during a cyclone or in times of a natural disaster.
