More rain and strong wind can be expected in the country.

The Nadi Weather Office said numerical weather models are still persisting on developing a tropical depression near Fiji by early Friday 28th and intensifying it into a tropical cyclone in the weekend.

A Duty Forecaster said that at this stage Fiji may experience strong winds up to 30 knots, heavy rain and squally thunderstorms with flooding of low-lying areas by then.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Wilma which has been upgraded to a category four cyclone was located near 22.9 South 177.2 East or about 575 km south of Nadi at 2pm today.

The cyclone is moving towards the west-southwest at around 33 km per hour on its track, it will pass south of Vanuatu by tomorrow afternoon.
