Leptospirosis cases continue to rise as another four new cases have been reported.
Spokesperson Peni Namotu said this brings the total number to forty six cases since January this year while seven deaths occurred in the interior of the western division.
Namotu said that the ministry is urging people to use preventative measures by wearing protective clothing such as boots and gloves when out in the farms and to avoid bathing in creeks or rivers that are infected with animal urine.
Namotu said people are also to seek proper medical treatment rather than traditional medicines.
