Farmers in Vanua Levu will now have more access to selling their produce in towns and Viti Levu as Government will spend close to $3million in road construction.
This is a confirmation from Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while addressing the members of the Macuata Provincial Council in Naduri today.
The construction of the road will be from Seaqaqa to Dreketi, Nabiti to Naisigasiga and Batiri.
Commodore Bainimarama has assured the people of Macuata that work on the project, which is part of the “Look North Policy”, will start next week.
Meanwhile, students in Vanua Levu will no longer have to travel to Suva for tertiary education as the government has plans to establish a Fiji National University campus in Labasa.
This will only become a reality if the members of the Council agree to give a piece of land at Naiyaga to government.
If all goes well, work should get underway later in the year.
