All the police officers in the country have been directed to go out into the communities and advocate on the issue of sexual offences and other crimes taking place.
Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua while launching a national campaign to combat sexual offences this morning challenged all police officers to take ownership of the issue.
He said there is a need to face up to the issue of crimes and sexual offences, openly talk about it and find solutions.
He said such awareness can be carried out by police officers as they perform their routine police work in the communities, attending village and district meetings, provincial meetings, religious gatherings, schools, youth group, sports meetings and house to house visits.
The Force is challenging everyone in Fiji to “Stand Up and Be Counted B Say No to Sexual Offences, Say No To Crimes”, and protect children who comprise the bulk of victims.
