Where is the former Deputy General Manager of FNPF Foana Nemani and what will happen to her court case?
This issue is expected to be addressed in the Suva High Court tomorrow as Nemani cannot be located.
Foana Nemani and former General Manager of FNPF Olota Rokovunisei are facing charges of “Extortion by Public Officers” and “Abuse of Office”.
They are alleged to have, between July and September 2006 whilst being employed by FNPF respectively defrauded FNPF by authorizing payment of responsibility allowance for each other the sum of $33,333 to Rokovunisei and $35,911.15 to Nemani without authorization.
FICAC prosecutor’s efforts to locate and get in touch with Nemani have been unsuccessful despite several attempts.
Nemani had earlier gone overseas on medical grounds but she cannot be contacted.
The prosecution had earlier said that it had learnt that Nemani is currently undergoing medical treatment in a hospital in New Zealand.
They said that Nemani’s husband who is her surety has also gone abroad.
The court had told FICAC to try to serve a Notice of Hearing to Nemani but this could not be done.
The case will be called tomorrow.
