The viewing of new Fiji passport samples designed by Oberthur Technologies will take place this week in France.
Department of Immigration Director Major Nemani Vuniwaqa is in Paris at the moment to view these passport samples at Obethur Technologies headquarters.
Normal Fiji passports have been exhausted however official travel documents like Certificates of Identity and Emergency Passports allow people to travel abroad.
Australia, Western Samoa, Tahiti, Vanuatu, Tonga and the Solomon Islands allow the use of Certificates of Identity to their countries.
New Zealand, United Kingdom and France allow the use of Emergency Passports to their destinations.
For India, only medical travel on an emergency passport is allowed.
A date when new passports will be available is still yet to be confirmed however the Department of Immigration has announced that they can be expected sometime in the first quarter of this year.
