Social Democratic and Liberal Party has raised concern over the appointment of the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem.
SODELPA’s General Secretary, Pio Tabaiwalu said this is the most important election and Saneem is too young and inexperienced to handle all the complicated operational and logistical requirements, to ensure a free, fair and transparent election.
Saneem was recommended by the electoral experts from Australia and NZ.
Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Chen Bunn Young said majority of the applicants did not have the necessary qualifications.
Young said they need someone who is familiar with the electoral processes in Fiji and Saneem can do the job.
