A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti group, the Yasawas and Mamanuca group and the eastern half of Viti Levu.
A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.
The Nadi Weather Office said a tropical depression was located 330km North North-West of Nadi at 9am today.
It is currently moving south eastwards towards the group at 15km per hour.
An associated trough with active rainbands is expected to affect the group until Monday.
The Nadi Weather Office said that at this stage, the tropical depression has a low chance to develop into a tropical cyclone.
Meanwhile, a flood alert remains in force for all small streams, creeks and low lying areas adjacent to major rivers within Vanua Levu and the eastern half of Viti Levu.
A flood alert remains in force for the low lying areas and areas adjacent to Rakiraki town.
There have been no reports of flooding.
Nadi Weather Office director Ravind Kumar said a strong wind warning is also in force for all Fiji waters and it advisable for mariners to make informed decisions before going out to sea.
Kumar said mariners should change their plans given the warnings and advisories.
