Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has said he has made it his principal task to get out into the affected areas to meet as many people as possible.
While speaking at the 2015 Fiji Sports Awards last night, Bainimarama highlighted their focus over the past few weeks has been to provide assistance to the many thousands of Fijians whose lives were badly affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Bainimarama said he is listening to the concerns of people and is formulating a comprehensive government response that meets their needs.
He added they are working around the clock to implement their Help For Homes program and Adopt a School Program - the two key initiatives that make up the first stage of a rebuilding process that will take many months and years.
The Prime Minister stressed that Winston has been a setback for Fiji, not a defeat adding Team Fiji has regrouped quickly after that setback.
He said they look to Fiji’s sportsmen and women for inspiration in this, one of the darkest periods in our history.
