A flood warning remains in force for the low lying areas adjacent to Rakiraki river and low lying areas including Naqoro flat, Rakiraki town and Qalau.

Water level at Rakiraki station was 2.96m at 2.30pm today which is 0.46m above river warning level and is gradually rising.

A flood alert remains in force for all small streams, creeks and low lying areas adjacent to major rivers for the whole of Fiji group and low lying areas at Dreketilailai station including the bridge at Konasami and downstream to Boubale bridge at Bulileka.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji group.

A Tropical Depression was located 310km north-northwest of Nadi at midday today.

It is moving Southeastward at about 15km/hour towards the group.

Associated trough with active rainbands is expected to affect the group till Monday.

Nadi Weather Office Director Ravind Kumar says a strong wind warning is also in force for all Fiji waters and it advisable for mariners to make informed decisions before going out to sea.

Kumar says mariners should change their plans given the warnings and advisories.

Looking at the situation on ground:

The Commissioner Central's Office says the Matainasau crossing in Naitasiri is currently under water and is closed to all traffic.

A few roads in Rakiraki are currently closed as they are flooded.

These roads are Barotu Circular, Qalau and Raiwasa.
