The Fiji U20 Rugby team has made a winning start at the World Rugby Under 20 Trophy tournament in Zimbabwe.

Fiji is playing in the Tier 2 competition.

Fiji scored six tries to beat Uruguay 38-34.

Uruguay led 16-14 at halftime. 

The national side is pooled with Uruguay, Zimbabwe, and Samoa.

Fiji will next face Samoa at 10am Saturday.

Samoa thrashed Zimbabwe 54-24 in their opening match. 

A trial point scoring system that awards six points for a try,
eight points for a penalty try and just two points for a penalty kick is being used in the Under 20 Trophy in Zimbabwe.

The Tier 1 competition is the Under 20 Rugby World Cup.
