The tropical depression which is located near Wallis and Futuna poses no threat to Fiji.
The Nadi Weather Office says the depression which moved over Fiji on Sunday and caused flooding in Vanua Levu and along the upper catchment of the Rewa river is still persistent to the far northeast of Fiji.
The tropical depression was analysed between Wallis and Futuna and approximately 400km to the northeast of Udu Point this morning.
This system has a high probability of developing into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 36 to 48 hours and keeping to its peculiar nature it will turn once again and approach Samoa from the northwest.
This is likely to occur this weekend.
Southeast tradewinds prevail over Fiji today with showers towards the windward side of the islands. Fine mornings elsewhere, with cloudy afternoons. There will be moderate southeast winds, strong over parts of Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.
