High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando has concurred with the three assessors and found Usaia Kilaiverata guilty of murdering 32-year-old Losana McGowan in April last year.
While delivering his verdict, Justice Fernando said that the prosecution has proved all the elements of murder.
The judge said that Kilaiverata had said in the caution interview that he and McGowan were drunk and he remembered what he had done.
Justice Fernando said that Kilaiverata had stated in the caution interview that he had punched McGowan and also kicked her after she had fallen down.
The judge said that Kilaiverata intended to kill McGowan that night.
Kilaiverata assaulted McGowan during a heated argument after returning from clubbing in April last year.
The sentencing and mitigation submissions will be heard at 9.30am tomorrow.
