More than 7,000 drivers were booked for illegal parking in 2017 in the Suva City area.
When questioned on the increase in illegal parking, the Suva City Council confirmed that many drivers are not being booked as 5 booking officers cover the 7 zones in the City.
There is a $20 fine for illegal parking and $75 fine for repeat offenders.
Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority has also confirmed that the total number of fines nationwide for illegal parking is 24,282.
LTA says that of the 24,282 bookings, 8,988 were from the Central and Eastern Division, 7,200 from the North and 8,094 from the Western Division.
