Suva Grammar School, Veiuto Primary and Sacred Heart College were able to clear students, teachers and staff within 10 minutes after the first mock Tsunami warning issued at 11.40am today.

The National Disaster Management Office planned for the first mock wave to hit Suva at 12.20pm as it conducted a School Tsunami Drill for 5 schools in Nasese today.

Students and staff were assembled at their respective assigned evacuation centres within 20 minutes of the issuance of the first mock Tsunami Warning.

Draiba Primary School evacuated to Parliament.

Suva Grammar School, Veiuto Primary School and Sacred Heart College evacuated to the National War Memorial Complex while Stella Maris Primary School evacuated up to the hill from the school premises.

Fijivillage had witnessed students at the evacuation point at the National War Memorial Complex who collapsed due to the waiting period in the sun.

Emergency Services were also on standby at the centres to assist those students who had collapsed.
