Sam Cane appears to be in a race against time to play in the first All Blacks test of the year next week.

The Chiefs flanker is considered unlikely to play the Crusaders this Saturday night due to his ongoing abdominal injury.

That would be the fourth Super Rugby game in a row he's sat out, since the Jaguares game in Rotorua earlier this month.

The Chiefs will meet the Crusaders at 7.35pm Saturday.
