The National Fire Authority has confirmed that flammable advertising material in a storage room located above the administration rooms of the Paradise Beverages Brewery had contributed to the high intensity of the fire yesterday.

In a statement National Fire Authority CEO Manasa Lesuma has also highlighted that they have begun their investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

He says that at 2.06pm yesterday, the Suva Fire Station was alerted through its Fire Monitoring Alarm System of a fire emergency at the Paradise Beverages Brewery and immediately responded.

Lesuma adds that firefighters arrived at the brewery’s administration building at 2:08pm and a portion of the brewery's administration section was on fire.

The Fire Team used multiple deliveries of water from their fire trucks and fire hydrant supply to contain the fire to the area and fought to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the factory.

Meanwhile, Paradise Beverages General Manager Mike Spencer has confirmed that it is business as usual today for employees following the fire yesterday afternoon.
