There was uproar from the Opposition side today as Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Premila Kumar hit out at the Opposition’s criticism of the Tertiary Education Loans Scheme initiative.
In her first speech in Parliament, Kumar said that in the past there was no option given by the state to allow parents to send their children to University.
She said TELS was never there before and it was the FijiFirst government that brought the initiative.
Kumar also paid tribute to her late father, Ram Karan who was a kava dealer.
She said she learnt a lot from her father who knew a lot of people particularly in Gau which all her family members have had a chance to visit.
Kumar said her father was also connected to people in Qarani Village.
Kumar also thanked her husband, Jaindra and three children, Yamal, Eshmee and Shaman.
