SODELPA President and parliamentarian Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says Fiji is big enough for all the races that live in Fiji and for all those that call Fiji home.

While speaking in parliament, Ratu Naiqama said to Indo Fijians and other members of the minority community that they all belong to this country.

Ratu Naiqama says that Christianity has had a big effect on the iTaukei where they have shared their land and resources with people of other communities.

Ratu Naiqama says SODELPA has made inroads into the FijiFirst in the 2018 general elections and they have gained 6 seats to add to the 15 seats that SODELPA won in 2014. He says it is evidently clear that SODELPA will soon overtake the FijiFirst and shall form government.

He says the voter turnout of 72 percent in the 2018 general elections compared to 84 percent in 2014, is a serious concern. Ratu Naiqama says 178,000 voters did not turn up to vote this year compared to about 90,000 voters in the 2014 general elections.

He then went on to say that blame should not only be put on the bad weather and flooding. Ratu Naiqama says lower voter turnout and other concerns raised on the electoral process reflects poorly on the Electoral Commission and the Supervisor of Elections.

Meanwhile Ratu Naiqama also says that iTaukei land was only swapped and not sold by the SVT and SDL governments.

He also called on the FijiFirst government to bring back policies like the Qoliqoli Bill and the Reconciliation and Unity Bill for the benefit of the iTaukei.

Under the SVT government, part of the Denarau land which was iTaukei land was swapped while under the SODELPA government, the iTaukei land in Momi was swapped to allow for the building of the hotel there. The FijiFirst government says this is a fact as the two pieces of iTaukei land have been lost forever.
