A 52-year-old woman is seeking justice after she was beaten up and robbed of her jewellery in her home in broad daylight last Thursday.

The incident occurred at Shakuntala Nandan’s Brown Street home when she had just gotten inside from hanging clothes outside at around 10am Thursday when she heard noises from another room.

Upon hearing this noise, she says she went in the room and saw a man staring at her in the face who punched her when she attempted to call for help.

The woman who has a prosthetic leg was punched and kicked several times before she could run out of the house and called for assistance.

Nandan managed to get out the house and after a while a group of men who work at a Coffin Shop came and assisted her but the man had already escaped.

Nandan was then taken to the hospital.

This has been tragic for Nandan as she had lost her house in a fire in June this year.

Police investigations into the robbery continue. No arrests have been made.
