I don’t even know whether the government knows there are indigenous people in Fiji and it seems as if they are always ignorant of that fact.
These are the words of SODELPA MP Ro Filipe Tuisawau who was delivering his maiden speech in parliament today.
He says today we are at a cross roads, the coups of 1987 and 2000 have been emphasized over and over by the FijiFirst government and again in the President’s speech.
Ro Filipe has asked what about the 2006 coup, whether it was a coup or a takeover. He says that the coup was an excuse to launch the political careers of those in the FijiFirst government.
He has asked if all members of the FijiFirst understand that they are the products of an evil plot and conspiracy.
Ro Filipe says with only 50.02% of votes, FijiFirst will soon be confined to history.
He says the proportional voting system set out in the 2013 Constitution was purposely designed for political support for one man.
Meanwhile, Tuisawau has commended Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho on the suspension of two officers in relation to the death of Josua Lalauvaki who was brutally assaulted by police officers which allegedly caused his death two months ago.
He says the government should provide compensation to his family.
