New Zealand has won the Dubai leg of the World Sevens Series with a close fought 31 points to 21 win over Fiji in the final.
After coasting into the semifinals with a convincing 40 points to 7 win over Argentina, the New Zealand side started the final scoring three unanswered tries.
However, Fiji battled back in the second half to bring the score back to 26 to 21.
New Zealand captain DJ Forbes said that Fiji played a very physical game.
With only two minutes remaining in the game, Canterbury winger Steven Yates came up with his second try of the game to clinch the win for New Zealand.
