An 827km electronic device cable costing $40 million that will link Nuku’alofa with Suva will be constructed by Fintel.
The link will improve communications; provide high speed internet and access to global information for the people of Tonga.
The managing director for Tonga Cable Limited Robert Bolouri said with ICT being essential for any country, this step will improve Tonga’s economic performance as well.
The cable connection is expected to be completed by March 2013.
