Normal power supply in the Central and Western Division will be restored in the next few weeks.
Fiji Electricity Authority CEO Hasmukh Patel has announced that the power blackout in most parts of the Central Division as their major power transmitter that provides power from Wailoa has fallen due to a landslide.
The whole transmitter fell down from a hill to the river.
Patel said at the moment they cannot attend to it due to the current weather situation.
He said it will take a few weeks to rebuild the tower.
However, Patel said a temporary power supply will be provided from tonight for the affected Central Division from the three diesel generators in Kinoya, Deuba and Korovou.
Patel said they will be looking at interim solution tonight.
