Fiji defeated South Africa in the Japan 7s plate final 14-10.
The Digicel Fiji 7s team gave their all in the nail biting encounter where Nikola Matawalu and the improving Waisea Nayacalevu scored to give Fiji the much needed points.
Meanwhile in the main cup final Australia put up a never give up attitude to outclass the much favored Samoan side with a 28-26 win.
The lead changed a few times in a thrilling final where the two sides scored four tries each but the difference was made by Matt Lucas's boot after he converted all of Australia's tries.
The young Australians never looked like a side that lacked experience as they didn’t give up.
All teams will now focus on the Scotland 7s which is next on the IRB World 7s series calendar.
