Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase has been released from prison.
It has been confirmed that Qarase was dropped off at his home by Fiji Corrections Service officers just before lunch time today.
Corrections spokesperson Ana Tudrau earlier told us that the earliest possible release date from prison for Qarase was 2nd April this year.
Tudrau said there is a remission of one third of the sentence which means that Qarase is likely to serve eight out of the 12 months of his prison sentence.
